Reopening of St Mary's Church - 10th April 2003
After a year
of renovation work, the reopening of St Mary’s Church took place on the evening
of
10
April 2003
. A packed
congregation of parishioners past and present, with many friends and
well-wishers, participated in the solemn liturgy, with the blessing of the
church and the dedication of the new altar.
Mass was
concelebrated by Bishop John Mone, with Bishop
Emeritus Stephen McGill, Mgr John Tormey and the
priests of the Diocese.

arise as incense in your sight.
As this building is
filled with fragrance,
so may your Church fill the world with the fragrance of Christ.”
Prayer as incense is burnt on the altar. |

Afterwards a young
altar server told the bishop, “I liked the bit where you barbecued the
altar.”
